Willy Obiano Hands Over 33 Seater Bus To Onitsha Sports Club
The governor presented the keys to the bus to the club at the Governor's Lodge Amawbia.
The presentation was in fulfilment of a promise the Governor made to the Club last month when he inaugurated the Willie Obiano Lawn Tennis Tournament at Onitsha.
Presenting the bus, Governor Obiano said his administration's commitment to developing Sports as a veritable means of catering for the health of the people, is total.
According to him, the bus which was manufactured by an indigenous company, was procured by his administration in keeping with its policy of patronizing locally manufactured goods.
Governor Obiano urged the club to utilize the vehicle to expand their activities in covering all parts of the Metropolis, assuring that his government will continue to support them as its resources permit.
A member of the Club's Board of Trustees, Chief Godwin Okeke noted that they are happy with the way the Governor is handling the affairs of the state especially as it concerns security and his passion for impacting lives.
Responding, the President of the Club, Chief Tobechi Ejezie while expressing appreciation to the Governor for the gesture, said it will help the club intensify its support activities to other smaller Clubs in the Onitsha area.
He said in keeping with their commitment towards encouraging good governance in the state, the club will support Governor Obiano especially towards his second term bid.
Handover of the keys to the bus formed the highpoint of the event.
