Alexis Sanchez has has told his international teammates he is set to leave Arsenal and join Manchester City, according to reports in Chile.
The former Barcelona superstar has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs for several months but City appear to have won the race to secure his signature.
Arsene Wenger has claimed Sanchez will not be sold but it is believed City’s most recent offer – £55million up front plus £5m in add-ons – has been deemed acceptable.
Sanchez, 28, is currently with the Chile squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Bolivia and City representatives are said to be on standby to force through a move on deadline day.
Some City fans went into overdrive when a picture of Sanchez wearing a sky blue shirt emerged on Twitter on Thursday afternoon but eagle-eyed fans dampened their enthusiasm by spotting a tattoo which adorns Leroy Sane’s left arm.

Amid speculation over Sanchez’s future, Arsenal have submitted a £90m offer for Monaco and France midfielder Thomas Lemar.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, completed his move to Liverpool earlier in the day – the England international signed a long-term deal at Anfield and cost the Reds £40m.
