President Muhammadu Buhari earlier today, met with the security chiefs at the presidential villa, in Abuja.
The meeting was also attended by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as well as the Comptroller General of Immigrations (NIS), Mohammed Babandede.
Just after the high profile meeting, the president took to his official Twitter page and wrote:
"Today I presided over a Meeting of the Security Council. We fully understand the seriousness & urgency of Nigeria's security issues, and are determined to implement carefully considered solutions that will not only earn the confidence of Nigerians, but also stand the test of time."
A presidential aide had earlier disclosed to a reported that President Buhari read the riot act to the heads of security outfits across the country; given the incessant herdsmen attacks and killings that daily dominate the headlines.
“It was a wakeup call kind of meeting. Nothing more. This was about everyone doubling their efforts with all the herdsmen killings in the north central. The president is particularly worried that even police officers have become victims of these herdsmen. The president practically told everyone to do better…to sit up”, the aide said while pleading that his name be left out of this story because he hadn't been authorized to speak.
