A really shocking and disturbing video has shown the moment a performance artist appeared to slice flesh from two assistants before frying it in a pan and feeding it to them on a live Facebook stream.
The graphic video shows the “cannibal” chef Arturs Berzins seemingly slicing open the backs of a woman and man as they sat down.
They barely flinch as “chunks of flesh” are ripped from their bodies without anaesthetic and are then put in a pan.
Berzins then fries the supposed meat before dropping the flesh into his wounded assistant’s mouths.
Daily Star UK reports that the 33-year-old artist staged the performance – named Eschatology – on March 6 in a museum in Riga, Latvia.
He had aimed to show what would happen should global food stocks run out, suggesting that humanity would resort to cannibalism.
It is not clear whether flesh was actually cut from the two people or whether it was staged.
But a flurry of complaints from viewers on Facebook have now sparked a police probe.
According to The Daily Mail, Latvian authorities are struggling to find anything to charge him with.
It comes after celebrity atheist Richard Dawkins recently asked his followers whether they would consider eating human meat, linking to an article about lab-grown flesh.
