How Teacher Allegedly Defiling 13-Year-Old Pupil in Ogun
A 25-year-old class teacher at a primary school in Ago Iwoye area of Ogun State, Ayobami Oluwatobiloba Runsewe, has allegedly defiled a 13-year-old girl in his class.
The police in Ogun confirmed that the man who is a class teacher of a nursery and primary school in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area had been arrested for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 13-year-old pupil.
According to information from a police source in the state command on Sunday, the suspect had been hired by the girl’s parents in 2023 to tutor her at their home in the community. It was also revealed that Onayemi had been attending the same church as the survivor before the crime occurred.
The survivor’s parents were reportedly shocked when Onayemi allegedly scaled the fence of their home to gain access to the 13-year-old’s room and commit the crime.
Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state command, confirmed the incident and stated that Onayemi had been arrested following the report made by the minor's parents on June 12, 2024.
“The suspect was employed in 2023 to help the survivor with her studies at home. However, on June 9, 2024, the suspect was caught committing the crime after he had jumped over the fence of the house. Our men swung into action immediately after the matter was reported," Odutola said.
She added, “The suspect was also believed to be attending the same church that the survivor attends every Sunday. He confessed to the crime after we arrested him.”
In September 2023, a similar incident was reported by Punch Metro involving a 43-year-old teacher, Joshua Olufemi, from the Heritage Group of Schools in Ofada Town, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Olufemi allegedly assaulted a 13-year-old male pupil, reportedly having carnal knowledge of the minor through the pupil’s anus on multiple occasions inside his room before his arrest.
