Replace Nysc Programme With One Year Compulsory Agriculture Training - Bar. Chikezie

 An Onitsha based lawyer and rights activist Mr Chikezie Thompson has urged the federal government and national assembly to introduce a bill to replace the national youth service program (NYSC) with one year Compulsory mechanized Agricultural training for graduates undergoing the scheme noting that if introduce will creates employments, boost food production, tackle hunger and improve the nation economy.



Making this suggestions while speaking to newsmen on the growing hardship in Nigeria and ineptitudes of nation rulers to address it in Onitsha yesterday, Bar. Chikezie who said he is irked by incessant setup of educational institutions like universities, polytechnics, collage of education as well as other educational institution without plan for the future welfare of graduates of these institution noted that it is high time Nigeria look towards the direction of mechanized agriculture to produce jobs as well as food for graduates of these institutions



While saying that now is the time for the nation government both local, state and Federal government to embrace mechanized farming, He urged them to introduce an impactful education curriculum to make every student to learn one skill or the other to add up to his learning so that incase of unemployment he or she will utilize his or her skill to be useful to the society.


Said he, Our educational curriculum need to be rejig, our educational curriculum need to be structured to make it compulsory for any student acquire a skill that will provide him employment, our government should prioritize mechanized agriculture, create skill acquisition on agriculture to make it possible for specialization on area like crop, fish meat, production etc. that will make food to be available as well as create employment
