Building collapse: Anikpe’s memories won’t be forgotten – NSCDC assures slain officer’s family

 


Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Comdt. Maku Olatunde has assured family of

late DSC Stanley Anikpe who lost his life in the collapse of a two-storey building under construction at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area of the State that his memories would not be forgotten.


Maku gave the assurance while leading a delegation of top management officials on a condolence visit to the deceased family on Tuesday, 9th July 2024.


He also promised that the Command and the Corps would stand by the family during this difficult time, urging them to take solace in the fact that DSC Anikpe lived a life worthy of emulation.

He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, describing the death as a shocking loss not only to the family but also to the NSCDC.


He said, “On behalf of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Comdt. Maku said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of DSC Anikpe, whose services were still greatly needed by the Corps. We pray that the Lord Almighty grants you and your family the comfort and strength to bear this irreparable loss.”


Responding, widow of DSC Anikpe, Mrs Anikpe Florence expressed gratitude to the State Commandant for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of solidarity and compassion from the NSCDC.


The visit ended with prayers offered for the family.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Thursday, 4th July 2024, resulted in the collapse of a two-storey building under construction, trapping traders and buyers.
