Former President Buhari Mourns late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu

 Buhari said the late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a patriot committed to the development of Nigeria.


The immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, is mourning the demise of Ohanaeze Ndigbo leader, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Buhari said the late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a patriot committed to the development of Nigeria. He said the late Ohanaeze leader was committed to unity and peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity.


Buhari said the late publisher of Champions Newspaper was an entrepreneur of international repute and employer of labour.

In a statement, on Friday, signed by Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Media aide, the former president said, “He was a visionary who revolutionized the nation’s media and sports. He made notable strides in the media industry, construction, sports, business, and politics.

“I had several opportunities to interact with him to know about his passionate commitment to the unity, peaceful coexistence, and development of Nigeria.

“His rich contributions have left indelible marks on the media, sports, politics, and business, where he made extraordinary achievements.

“My condolences to his family, friends and associates, and the entire people of the South-east. His death is a loss to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The 11th president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo died on Thursday. A statement from his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, said the 82-year-old died after a brief illness.
