Ohanaeze youths hail Tinubu over livestock reforms

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the timely and progressive initiative of the Livestock Reform and Development.

Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms to address obstacles to agricultural productivity and open up new opportunities which benefit farmers, herders, processors and distributors in the livestock-farming value chain.

Acting President of the body, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, in a statement on Sunday described the move as genuine and proactive measure in response to the monstrous and apocalyptic security and economic challenges posed on Nigerians as a result of long stand neglect of this Paramount Sector of our Livelihood and Economy.

He said initiative would go a long way to manage, control and mitigate the incessant and unnecessary killings and destructions associated with Livestock Business across Nigeria.

The statement reads in part, “We commend the President for the prompt inauguration of the Livestock Reform Implementation Committee.

“It is a welcome development to separate Livestock Development from crop production, as this shall enhance focus and maximize the impact.

“We congratulate and encourage Prof. Attahiru Jega- the Co-Chairman and members of the all important Committee on the need to ensure that all concerned Stakeholders are carried along in order to serve the purpose of the Committee.

“As a matter of National Security, we commend the President’s commitment to ensure that the traditional method of livestock farming will need to be reviewed and repositioned with the support of modern technology and stakeholders, which include state governments, in order to open up new opportunities for growth and prosperity.

“We commend all Stakeholders who have contributed immensely towards the laudable development in the Livestock Sector.

“We also reaffirm our unreserved Gratitude and Support to the President’s commitment to promote and protect the Peace, Stability and Security in Nigeria.”
