Samsung union vows indefinite strike
Thousands of unionized Samsung workers have vowed Wednesday to extend their initial three-day strike indefinitely until their demands for improved pay and benefits.
Although a Samsung company statement insisted there would be no disruption to production lines as it “remains committed to engaging in good faith negotiations”, the union claimed it had disrupted production to force management to accept demands.
6,540 of the National Samsung Electronics Union’s 30,000 members have reportedly pledged to strike, equal to about 5% of the company’s workforce in South Korea.
