Sanitize your market, abattoir or risk closure – TC chair warns traders
Transition Committee Chairman, Orumba North council Area of AnambraState, Barrister Casmir Nwafor has expressed worry over lack of environmental sanitation in Eke oko market and abattoir.
He warned the traders and butchers that they stood the risk of getting the market closed if there was no effective environmental sanitation in the market.
Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the market and abattoir barely 24hours he was sworn in, Nwafor ordered holistic sanitation of the market within 7days.
“The whole market should wear a new look within one week in line with the zero tolerance policy on environmental degradation.
The Chairman further frowned at the indiscriminate parking of vehicles and motorcycles in the first gate of Oko polytechnic and total Filling station along Ekwulobia-Oko-Umunze Road.
He appealed to the management and staff of various transport companies and leadership of motorcycle operators to assist in the ongoing efforts to make the state a liveable and prosperous homeland.
He reiterated his determination to domesticate the good governance policy of the present regime in the state and Orumba North council area in particular, through effective administration.
While commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the numerous projects being executed in the area, Nwafor said he was poised to change the face of Orumba North council area.
He added, “Security of lives and property of my people will continue to receive priority attention, including markets and residential quarters.
“Every community will be involved in my administration through community participation program.
“Inter-schools and inter-towns sports competition will be reintroduced, including revival of cultural festivals and carnivals to entertain the people during festival seasons.”
Highlight of the first day in office tour of the transition Chairman was a courtesy call on the traditional Ruler of Ajalli Eze Augustine Nwangwu.
