Stop urinating, defecating around Pipeborne Water Scheme points – NUJ

 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council has cautioned the public to desist from urinating or defecating around the locations of the Solution Pipeborne Water Scheme at strategic discharge points in the the state.



The council which gave the warning during its July congress, singled out the Water Scheme around ABS Corporate Headquarters, Awka and Aroma Junction axis.


In a communique Issued at the end of the Congress presided over by its Chairman, Comrade Dr. Odogwu Emeka, the Congress called on residents to always keep their surroundings clean in order to avert spread of the deadly Cholera outbreak ravaging many states in Nigeria.


The congress further called on State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and other relevant agencies to embark on continuous sensitization of residents on dangers of flooding, while urging parents and guardians to monitor movement of their wards to avoid being washed away by flood.



The congress also implored all households to stop reckless dumping of refuse in drainage systems to allow free flow of rain water especially during the period of heavy downpour.


While commending government for the lofty initiative of dualising the Amawbia-Ekwuluobia-Uga road which would hopefully decongest vehicular traffic upon completion, the Congress appealed for thoughtful considerations to those whose property were located along the areas the ongoing road construction extended to.


“The Congress urged the contractors in-charge of the various road projects in the Soludo administration to handle them with the expected human face and deliver on the exact specifications.



“It vehemently condemned the rate at which buildings collapse are being recorded in the state recently and called on State government and Nigeria Society of Engineers to investigate the major causes as well as find solutions to avoid future recurrence of the problem.


“Congress announced the award of four eminent Ndị Anambra as Patrons of NUJ, Anambra State Council after a thorough screening exercise.
