Consultation rumour to replace Uba in Senate disrespectful – Ikedife (jnr)

South East Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Dozie Ikedife (Jnr) has refuted news trending on the social media that he was consulting and had told his close friends that he was in the race to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah as the Senator representing Anambra Senatorial district.

Mr Ikedife (Jnr), who reacted, yesterday, in a telephone interview said the online publication with the caption “Five Nnewi politicians on the radar to replace Senator Ifeanyi” where his name was mentioned as among the five contesting to inherit the political structure of Ifeanyi Ubah was an embarrassment, falsehood, fake and misguided information to mislead the unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the APC Chieftain, the report said that since Ifeanyi Ubah died, that Ikedife has been in the house of the late Senator in Abuja, receiving people who come for condolences.

He wondered why a wrong meaning should be read into his closeness to Ubah’s family whereas the late Ubah was his political ally, a friend and his brother.

He insisted that he never granted anybody an interview of any kind to declare his ambition or interest to replace Senator Ubah in the Senate when he was still in shock and in tears over the death of his brother.

“He died and we are still mourning. We’re not going to start looking at strategies for any political interest till we honour our late brother, till we lower him to the grave.

“Right now we still have tears in our eyes, we are still mourning, and we are still in shock. After the shock we then start making preparations on how to bury a national Icon, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

“You may remember that I was a key supporter of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for Governor of Anambra State come 2025 governorship election.

It is most unfortunate that he did not live for us to actualize this ambition.

“I am saddened by his sudden death and still in shock. Everyday, I think of his wife and his children.

“Those of us that were close to him are only thinking of how to continue to console his family and help plan the activities to honour him with a befitting burial.

“We will not discuss partisan politics till we lay our brother to rest. We are waiting for his family to announce the funeral dates.

“In my opinion, it will be disrespectful for anyone close to Senator Ubah to be consulting at this time to replace him in the Senate.

“I have not consulted with anyone in that respect, please. This is an embarrassment, “he concluded.
