If Everyone Sang Gospel, Our World Would Be Boring – Gospel Singer, Laolu Gbenjo

Gbenjo also discussed how the COVID-19 lockdown inspired him to create a new niche, Alujo Special.

Laolu Gbenjo, a popular Nigerian gospel artist, has shared his thoughts on the diversity of music genres, stating that if everyone only sang gospel music, the world would be boring.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, he emphasized the importance of variety in music, citing examples of how different occasions call for different types of songs, such as love songs for weddings and celebration praise for joyful events.

“We have to be sincere to ourselves, if everybody sings gospel, the world will be boring. That’s the truth. If anyone is getting married, you don’t expect me to sing gospel all through, there are love songs and celebration praise. It’s just a celebration”, he said.

Gbenjo also discussed how the COVID-19 lockdown inspired him to create a new niche, Alujo Special.

During the lockdown, he began singing for individuals who would send in their photos, creating personalized songs in his studio.

He further revealed that he kickstarted his singing career, noting his father’s influence as a pastor.

“I started singing because my father was a pastor”, he said.
