DMGS Students Design Visual Aid Projects, Clinches First Position in Anambra Tech Competition
Students of Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) Onitsha has made a mark at the just concluded Young Scientists and Future Innovators Exhibition, organized by the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
The trio, comprising Nwafor Paschal, Chinwuba Bethel, and Nwogu Daberechi, showcased two impressive projects: “Smart Google” for the blind and a smart home automation system called “Ti-Bot.”
Their “Smart Google” project utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles, sending sound waves to a buzzer that alerts the blind person. This innovative solution has the potential to significantly improve the daily lives of visually impaired individuals.
The DMGS team took the top spot with 456 points, followed by St. Joseph Awka Etiti with 390 points, and St. Kizito with 284 points.
The event was attended by notable figures, including the First Lady, Mrs. Nonyelum Soludo; the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kate Emenuga; commissioners; industry leaders; and tech giants.
The students were presented with cash prize .
President-General of DMGS Old boys Association, Dr. Sunny Nwachukwu equally received a PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY AWARD, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the real estate industry at the event.
