NUJ: Anambra first lady bags S’east Most Supportive Governor’s Wife, Voice for the Voiceless
Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has been voted the Most Supportive Governor’s Wife in South East Nigeria.
Mrs Soludo clinched the award after getting the highest number of votes cast in an open digital ballot competition that was carried out by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council.
The competition was opened for governors’ wives in the five south eastern states, with voters able to state, through comments, their preferred candidates based on proofs and verifiable antecedents.
The Anambra governor’s wife, who won the survey by a landside, was voted for her impact on healthy living, social support, grassroots touch, and agriculture.
Voters who chose the governor’s wife over other candidates stated how Mrs Soludo has used her non-governmental movement, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, to lay a foundation that has touched humanity in the most different positive forms.
The maiden award, according to the Chairman of NUJ Chairman in Anambra State, Dr Emeka Odogwu, is designed to celebrate and honour governors’ wives who have shown valid and impactful support, independent from the mainstream governance of their spouses.
Mrs Soludo was also honoured as “NUJ Anambra Voice for the Voiceless in South East” for leading a campaign of change through social welfare, institutional reformation, and family values.
Both awards will be presented to the Anambra governor’s wife at an event this October.
