OPC Member Arrested Over Attempted Murder
The suspect was alleged to have committed the offence at the Iyanomo community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.
A 31-year-old member of Odu’a Peoples Congress (OPC), Christian Okagbare, has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command over the attempted murder of Osaigbovo Charles and Iyare Stanley in the state.
The suspect was alleged to have committed the offence at Iyanomo community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, said Osaigbovo Charles and Iyare Stanley, both of the Iyanomo community by Rubber research, Benin-City, reported at the station with various degrees of injuries all over their bodies.
"They reported that some OPC members from the same community fired shots at them, which resulted in the injuries sustained without any provocation," he said.
He said the victims were rushed to the hospital where they were admitted, treated and discharged.
According to him, an investigation by the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the command led to the arrest of Christian Okagbare.
"He confessed to the crime and took the operatives to the spot where he buried the firearm, he used in committing the offence,’’ he said.
