Measles Immunization: Citizens’ healthcare remains our priority – Anambra govt
Anambra State government has reiterated its commitment to the healthcare needs of the citizenry.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike stated this on Saturday at the flagged-off of integrated measles immunization campaign in Awka, scheduled for November 6 – 8, 2024.
The event held at Okpuno Primary Healthcare Centre, Awka South Local Goverment Area of the state attracted parents, care givers and development partners.
Obidike explained that government placed high premium to the healthcare needs of the citizenry, calling on parents and care givers to avail their children the opportunity to get immunized.
He commended the development partners working in the state, especially the World Health Organization for their numerous support so far.
Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem revealed that the immunization would take place in all the primary healthcare centres in the state, maintaining that the exercise remains safe and free.
Speaking on behalf of development partners, Zonal Coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Chimuanya Igboekwu praised the state government for creating enabling environment that makes their work seamlessly.
She assured continuous partnership with the state.
State Health Educator, Mrs. Uju Onwuegbusi, the State Immunization Officer, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu among others attended the event.
