Anambra Government Releases Date For the Unveiling of New Government House

The Anambra State government is set to operationalize its new Government House by January 2025, marking a significant breakthrough in the administration of Governor Charles Soludo.

The State Commissioner for Works, Ifeanyi Okoma, made the announcement during a press briefing on Thursday, highlighting the government’s commitment to transforming the state.

“Located on 28.8 hectares of land, the new Government House is touted as one of the largest in Nigeria” Okoma said.

He described it as a “monumental achievement” for the state, emphasizing its importance in establishing Anambra as a key player in Nigeria’s governance landscape.

The Commissioner elaborated on the administration’s broader vision, which includes extensive infrastructural development across all the 21 local government areas of the state.

“Over the past two years and eight months, the state government has awarded road construction contracts totaling 621.445 kilometers. To date, 326 kilometers have been completed, with additional projects progressing toward completion.

“Our goal is clear: to make Anambra a more livable and prosperous environment for all citizens,” Okoma said.

“We are not only building roads but also generating opportunities for local and foreign investors to thrive regardless of their background.

“In addition to road infrastructure, the government is implementing several legacy projects across the state’s three senatorial districts, including an amusement park and a water park in Awka. These recreational facilities aim to enhance the living experience for residents, as the capital currently lacks such amenities.”

Okoma reiterated that the administration’s initiatives aim to reduce poverty levels and foster a favorable business climate.

“By the end of this administration’s first tenure, we anticipate a significant decrease in poverty. We encourage our citizens abroad to return home and contribute to the state’s economic growth,” he said.

“The vision of the Soludo-led administration is to transform Anambra State into a destination, rather than a departure point, for its people and prospective investors,” he added.

Okoma also praised the governor for undertaking these transformative projects without incurring debt.

The Commissioner further stated that as the state approaches the operational launch of its new Government House and continues extensive infrastructure development, the Anambra State government remains steadfast in its commitment to building a thriving and sustainable future for all its citizens.
