Nigerian Prison Escapee Arrested In Dominican Republic, To Be Extradited To Haiti
Following an international alert and joint investigation with the General Directorate of Migration, Egbor was identified and detained.
A Nigerian national, IK Egbor, who was declared wanted by Haitian authorities, has been arrested by the Human Trafficking and Smuggling Investigation Department of DICRIM in the Dominican Republic.
The Dominican Today in a report published on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, said the arrest followed his attempt to obtain a travel document in the Dominican Republic, claiming he had lost his identification.
However, migration records revealed no legal entry into the country.
Haitian authorities confirmed that Egbor had escaped from prison on March 3, 2024, during a mass breakout.
Previously, in 2022, he was detained at Toussaint Louverture International Airport for allegedly carrying drugs in his abdomen while attempting to travel to Paris.

He will be extradited to Haiti’s Bureau Lutte Trafic Stupéfiant (BLTS/DCPJ) to face judicial proceedings
