Standards test: SON rewards 17 Nnewi firms with 39 products
The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has recognized and celebrated seventeen companies in Nnewi and environs with thirty nine brands of products.
SON said those companies had demonstrated excellence by achieving the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certification or recertification.
Speaking during the award presentation and products exhibition in Anambra State office II, Nnewi, Director General of the organization, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, noted that the awards were more than just certificates.
The DG whose address was read by Mr Gabriel Agefe from Anambra said the awards were a reflection of hard work, adherence to best practices, and a shared vision for quality and sustainability.
He explained that the benefits of products standardization were numerous.
“Those benefits will translate to improved quality, increased customer satisfaction and enhanced global competitiveness.
“By standardizing products, business can reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase productivity,” he said.
The DG reminded the awardees that as the remarkable achievements were being celebrated that it must be emphasized that standards were dynamic, constantly evolving to meet technological advancements and consumer expectations.
He encouraged all the stakeholders, especially manufacturers, to view compliance with standards as an ongoing commitment.
He advised those yet to achieve MANCAP certification to be inspired by the event to take pro-active steps towards aligning with the standards that would unlock new opportunities and strengthen their business resilience.
The told them that SON remained ready to provide the necessary technical support, guidance, and capacity-building.
He also reminded the awardees that their processes and products would continually be subjected to quarterly inspection and test in order to ensure that quality is not only sustained but also upheld.
