1Youth 2Skills Trainees get Entrepreneurship Scheme in February - Patrick Agha Mba

The Commissioner for Youth Development in Anambra State Mr. Patrick Agha Mba has stated that the Entrepreneurship Scheme of 1Youth 2Skills Phase 2 will begin in February. Mr. Agha Mba made this disclosure in a meeting held with Entrepreneurship Development Institutions (EDIs) that participated in the first phase of 1Youth 2Skills Solution.


Mr. Agha Mba described 1Youth 2Skills as a project that has redefined youth empowerment from immediate consumption to more of productive, exportive and impactful venture. He stated that the entrepreneurship scheme is the second stage of 1Youth 2Skills, pointing out that the Entrepreneurship Scheme, in addition to the Apprenticeship, Cooperatives Formation, Business Financing and One Year Membership Schemes make 1Youth 2Skills a unique programme. 


He thanked Mr. Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR for coming up with such an initiative, which has made Anambra State a model for youth development in Nigeria. He also thanked UNIZIK Business School and all the EDIs it is coordinating for doing a great job. 


He praised the EDIs for commitments and sacrifices in offering their services to give Anambra youths the best of training, in spite of the recent economic realities.  He however promised that Mr. Governor is appreciative of the great work the EDIs are doing in the programme and is working on ensuring that the institutes are supported for business expansion. 

He also reported that the Entrepreneurship Scheme has been modified to include the digitalization of Umuboi programme, which now makes it possible for Umuboi to undergo entrepreneurship training within the market, in addition to the Online Entrepreneurship Academy which makes it possible for everyone to take entrepreneurship courses from any part of the world and get certified automatically. 


In his reaction, the Chairman of 1Youth 2Skills Entrepreneurship Scheme, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe stated that the Vice Chancellor  of UNIZIK is highly delighted on the collaboration between UNIZIK and the Government of Anambra State in driving the programme, he stated that the next phase of the programme will witness more improvement in programme implementation and monitoring. He called on all EDIs to ensure strict compliance to the content of the Entrepreneurship Scheme Curriculum, which he described as the best anyone can get in the world.

The highlight of the meeting was the announcement of call for applications from institutes who are interested in working as EDIs in the second phase of 1Youth 2Skills, as well as the commencement of EDI workshop which comes up before the second week of February this year.


The meeting was also well attended by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development, Engr. Martins,  the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Engr. Emeka Tony Omatah, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Mr. Chibuzo Udeh, as well as Team Lead of the various EDIs.
