Anambra Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapper Pablo, Nab Over 300 Suspects in Major Crime Bust

The Anambra State Police Command has made significant strides in its battle against crime, announcing the arrest of over 300 suspects, including a notorious kidnapper, known as Pablo. The arrest of Pablo, who had been terrorizing communities in Ihiala, as well as parts of Enugu and Delta States, was highlighted during a press conference held by the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, at the police headquarters in Awka.

The police operation, which also resulted in the rescue of 14 kidnapped victims, led to 15 convictions. The force also seized a large cache of arms, including over 100 different brands of firearms, 43 unexploded improvised devices, and nearly 3,000 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, the police recovered 40 stolen vehicles and various motorcycles during the operation.

Among the notable successes was the elimination of the masterminds behind an attack on police operatives in Uruagu Nnewi, and the arrest of an 18-year-old boy involved in a planned cult killing. The police also destroyed several criminal hideouts, including one in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, where 19 unexploded devices were recovered.

In another significant development, two notorious cultists were arrested in Awka, with authorities recovering a pump action gun, live cartridges, and other incriminating items. The police also rescued three children allegedly abducted from their parents in Bauchi State and sold in Anambra. Four suspects, including an illegal foster mother, were arrested in connection with the crime.

The Anambra Police Command has called on the public to assist in identifying the rescued children and reuniting them with their families. The force also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.

The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for their continued support. He assured the public that the police would remain committed to consolidating the gains made in crime prevention and ensuring law and order in the state.
