Mefor to Lawmakers: Your Support To Solution Govt Not Taken For Granted
Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor has commended members of the state House of Assembly for their support and encouragement to the Solution Government despite being a multi-party House.
Mefor made the commendation when he received the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Information, led by the Committee Chairman, Hon Fred Ezenwa, representing Onitsha South Constituency, who paid an oversight visit to the ministry,
He observed that there is maximum cooperation between the executive and legislature, adding that the Solution Government doesn’t take the legislature for granted.
Giving an overview of the ministry’s operations and plans for the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election, the commissioner explained that his ministry has been engaged in public enlightenment on government activities, among other things.
“My Ministry is doing a lot in media and other public enlightenment engagements to get people to understand what the government is doing and why it is doing so, among other things.
“We are aware that a government may be doing so much without people being aware, and they may be aware and will not know why the government is doing that which it is doing,” he said.
Assuring his Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with the lawmakers as well as deploying all available means to reach Ndị Anambra in various communities, Mefor noted that provision of enough funds and adequate working materials would enhance his Ministry’s performance in revenue generation and efficient discharge of its duties.
Earlier, Committee Chairman, Hon. Ezenwa, explained that the visit was not to witch-hunt anybody but to perform their oversight duties to know the ministry’s operations and proffer possible solutions.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Emma Nwafor, representing Orumba South, and Hon. Tony Muobike, representing Aguata 2 Constituency, stressed the need for collaboration between the committee and the ministry to reach the grassroots.
