Residents of Jiddari Polo in Maiduguri, Borno state capital are running for cover following an attack launched by Boko Haram fighters.
The attack happened hours after President Muhammadu Buhari paid a condolence visit to the people of the state over the killing of 30 persons on Sunday.
This comes as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges President Muhammadu Buhari to go beyond his sympathy visit to Borno state and take decisive steps to end the killings in that state and other parts of the country.
The party said the booing of President Buhari in Borno state is a clear message to him that Nigerians hold him responsible for the escalated insecurity in the country.
ElombahNews had reported that Borno residents fled their homes on Wednesday as troops battled Boko Haram insurgents who launched the attack on Jiddari-Polo area, a suburb near Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
It was learnt that the attackers came around 7:05pm after the Muslim prayer time to Jiddari Polo general area of Maiduguri Metropolis, shooting sporadically as residents scampered for safety.
The troops, local hunters and civilian JTF were sighted heading towards the Federal High Court area of Jiddari Polo at exactly 7:20pm, witnesses said.
Our correspondent who visited the popular Circular junction sighted hundreds of women, children and youths walking into the town as dozens sit on the roadside.
