Lafarge Cement has initiated medical protocol at its Ewekoro Plant in Ogun State in the wake of the discovery that one of its consultants, an Italian, is sick with the deadly Coronavirus disease [COVID-19].

Lafarge disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development, Ms. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem.

Recall that the Lagos State Government has reported a first case of Coronavirus in Nigeria late Thursday.

As a business, Lafarge immediately identified the persons who had direct contact with the concerned individual.

The firm has equally initiated isolation, quarantine and disinfection protocol.

Lafarge thanked the exemplary leadership of the federal ministry of health, Ogun and Lagos State Governments for swiftly providing response and testing facilities.

Lafarge said that it is working in full co-operation with all local authorities to forestall further infection.

The company said that it is also working in close partnership with International SOS, its medical service provider, a leading global health company.

It assured that health and safety remains a core value at Lafarge Africa and intend to leverage this strength at this critical time.
