A High Court sitting in Kano, on Friday, sentenced a house wife, Mrs. Rashida Saidu to death by hanging over her alleged complicity in the death of her husband, Dr Adamu Ali.
The court found Mrs. Saidu guilty as charged for culpable homicide for the death of her 56 -year- old husband who was, until his death, a staff of the Federal College of Education, Kano.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mariam Jilbrin, narrated before the court how Mrs Saidu, during a fight with her husband at their residence last year, had pushed him down from a storey building, which eventually led to his death.
The prosecution produced four witnesses to the court to prove the charge of culpable homicide against the suspect.
On her part, Mrs. Saidu denied the charge and produced two witnesses in court to counter the allegation of culpability in her husband’s death.
The presiding, Justice Ahmad Tijjani Badamasi, in his judgement, held that the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt and that the suspect was guilty as charged.
The Judge, therefore, sentenced her to death by hanging
The family of the late Dr Ali described the death sentence as just and fair, saying it served the course of justice, saying that justice has come the way of the deceased barely a year after his death.
