Dr Emeka Kalu, the Director-General of Global Initiative for Good Governance, has said he would not hesitate to support the candidature of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar again if he decides to vie for the highest political office in the country in 2023.
Atiku was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, but lost to the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Kalu in a press statement made available to journalists said that he had no regret supporting the candidature of Atiku in 2019 and said he would also throw his weight behind him in 2023 if the politician was willing to contest the presidency of the country.
Kalu insisted that Atiku was the best candidate to take over from Buhari in 2023 especially with the myriad of challenges that had faced the country in recent time, stressing that his brand of leadership would make him the candidate to beat.
The PDP youth leader expressed that the only challenge with Nigeria at present was the lack of quality leadership especially at the centre.
He assured that if voted into power in 2023, Atiku had the capacity to lead Nigeria right, stressing that all these were in his blueprint of governance.
He explained that Atiku had prepared a policy document with his vision encapsulated in JOBS – Jobs, Opportunity, Being United and Security.
He said: “I have no regret supporting Atiku Abubakar because, he is the right person for the people of Nigeria at this time following the uninspiring leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Atiku is also a good economic manager; as a Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku was the Chairman of the National Economic Council, which started a revolution of sorts in the management of the national economy.
“He did well in introducing measures and implementing policies that gave the entire national economy a lease of life and breath of fresh air and created jobs and regular income for the majority of Nigerians.”
He maintained that Atiku believed in the indivisibility of Nigeria and would work to integrate the country and ensures equal right for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and language.
