Nigerians have berated the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for issuing the National Identity Card to the World heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua within a record short while.
NIMC had posted pictures of the Commission while issuing the card to the World boxing champion during his visit to his home State, Ogun, on Tuesday.
The pictures were shared by of their official Twitter handle with the caption, “Anthony Joshua enrolls for the National Identification Number and issued his NIN slip.”
During his visit, Joshua had seized the opportunity to register for his National Identity Card to help identify him as a Nigerian citizen.
He also visited the palace of Akarigbo of Remo in Sagamu.
The express manner the card was issued , however, did not augur well with several Nigerians who lamented the agonising long time it takes to acquire the card.
Some of them responded to the NIMC tweet as follows:
In reaction to the post, many Nigerians were quick to lodge their complaints that since they applied, they were yet to get their NIN number.
They opined that Nigerians should be treated equally despite the status.
Some others in their reactions explained how they got their NIN immediately after they enrolled.
See some of the reactions below:
I’ve enrolled for this national ID card since 2014, and I’m yet to be issued a permanent ID card. All I’ve to show for it is the slip.
But Anthony Joshua will most definitely get issued a permanent ID card before me.
Nigeria is for the highest bidder. https://twitter.com/nimc_ng/status/1229844048489439234?s=19 …NIMC@nimc_ng
