In anticipation of the upcoming 66th Grammy Awards on February 4th, the organizers have unveiled a compilation of African musicians who have been honored with the prestigious golden gramophones since the 1960s.
The compilation stirred up controversies on social media as it overlooked the inclusion of singers Wizkid and Tems, who were not among the 10 African winners of the prestigious award.
According to the list, Miriam Makeba, the late South African singer, retained the distinction of being the first African artist to clinch a Grammy award.
Sade, the pop singer, came next in the compilation, marking her as the first Nigerian to secure the global award, while Burna Boy stands as the most recent and latest Nigerian recipient of the prestigious accolade.
